Science Nation Tour: Agham na Ramdam (science that is felt)

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) thru the leadership of Sec. Mario G. Montejo is holding the nationwide road show that aims to make science felt by average Filipino people. With the theme, “Science Nation Tour: Agham na Ramdam (science that is felt)”, the DOST Team led by Sec. Mario G. Montejo is set to tour the country’s 17 regions in 2015-2016 to allow Filipinos of varying social and economic brackets to see and experience how science affects their daily lives. Scheduled on 02-04 March 2016, it will feature activities reflecting DOST’s bid to integrate science in efforts toward progress and inclusive growth in various venues in Albay and Camarines Sur provinces.

The 3-day event will feature the following S&T activities:

Day 1 - Launching of Complementary Food Processing Facility (Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, Pili, Camarines Sur), Visit of Complementary Food Production Area and Luncheon meeting with LGU-Iriga (San Agustin, Iriga City); Project Visits of Prima General Merchandise (La Trinidad, Iriga City) and C.O.P. Pili Sweets and Pastries (Bañag, Daraga, Albay), and Meeting with DOST V personnel on 2 March 2016;

Day 2 -Site visit of Taysan Elementary School (STARBOOKS Launching), Site visit of Taysan Training Production and Livelihood Center, Radio Guesting at DZGB, Orientation-Training on Project NOAH and Forum on Early Warning System with LGU beneficiaries and RDRRMC-Bicol member agencies at Hotel St. Ellis, Legazpi City, Launching of Bicol Integrated Dengue Vector Management Program (Ninong’s Hote, Legazpi City), Scholars’ Summit (poster and essay writing contests and achievers day/career talk/testimonial) at Ayala Malls, Legazpi City, and Dinner meeting to be hosted by LGU Legazpi thru Mayor Noel E. Rosal .

On the third and last day, Sec. Montejo and party will grace the 1st Regional Full Council Meeting on 04 March 2016 to be hosted by Regional Development Council V at NEDA, Arimaby, Legazpi City.

Through this activity, DOST hopes to heighten the consciousness of the general public about the indispensable role of science and technology in our society. DOST recognizes that active cooperation and collaboration with the S&T partners and key stakeholders will result to a more productive, relevant and timely programs and services to accelerate regional development.
